Refund and Cancellation Policy

At Carol's Custom Drapery, we are committed to your satisfaction. This policy outlines our practices regarding deposits, cancellations, and refunds for our custom window treatment services.
Consultations
Initial consultations are provided as a complimentary service. There is no charge for in-home consultations or initial design meetings. We simply ask that you provide adequate notice if you need to reschedule.
Design Fees
For complex projects requiring extensive custom design work, a design fee may be applicable. This fee will be clearly communicated and agreed upon before work begins. Design fees are non-refundable once design work has commenced.
Design Fee Credit
Design fees paid for custom projects will be credited toward your final project cost if you proceed with fabrication and installation.
Deposits and Payment Schedule
For custom window treatments, we typically require the following payment structure:
- Deposit: 50% of the project total required to begin fabrication
- Balance: Remaining 50% due upon completion of installation
Deposit Refund Policy
Deposits are refundable under the following circumstances:
- Cancellation more than 14 days before scheduled installation: Full refund
- Cancellation 7-14 days before scheduled installation: 50% refund
- Cancellation less than 7 days before installation: No refund (fabric has likely been cut)
Once fabric has been cut for your project, deposits become non-refundable as materials are custom-ordered for your specific windows.
Custom Orders
All window treatments are fabricated specifically for your windows and spaces. Because these are custom-made items, they cannot be returned or exchanged unless there is a manufacturing defect or error on our part.
Fabric Orders
Once fabric has been ordered for your project, it cannot be cancelled or returned. If you change your fabric selection after ordering, additional charges may apply.
Quality Guarantee
We take pride in our craftsmanship and stand behind the quality of our work. If you experience any issues with the construction or functionality of your custom window treatments, we will work with you to make it right.
Warranty Coverage
- Workmanship: 1-year warranty on all installation and fabrication
- Motorization: Manufacturer's warranty on motors and electronic components
- Hardware: Lifetime warranty on hardware functionality
Warranty Exclusions
Our warranty does not cover:
- Damage from improper use or care
- Normal wear and tear
- Damage from accidents, pets, or misuse
- Fading from sun exposure (natural progression of fabrics)
- Issues arising from improper installation by non-authorized parties
Cancellation Policy
We understand that circumstances change. If you need to cancel or reschedule your project:
- Before deposit: No penalty, no obligation
- After deposit, before fabric order: Deposit refund per schedule above
- After fabric order: Deposit non-refundable (custom materials ordered)
- After installation scheduled: Rescheduling preferred over cancellation
Rescheduling
If you need to reschedule your installation, please provide at least 48 hours' notice when possible. We understand that unexpected things happen and will work with you to find a convenient alternative date.
Installation Issues
If you are not satisfied with the installation for any reason, please contact us immediately. We will send a technician to address any issues at no additional cost. Your satisfaction is our priority.
Special Orders
Some items may be classified as "special orders," including limited edition fabrics, custom hardware, or non-stock items. Special orders are non-cancellable and non-refundable once placed.
Disputes
In the unlikely event of a dispute, we encourage open communication to find a resolution. Please contact us directly to discuss any concerns. We are committed to finding a fair and reasonable solution.
Changes to This Policy
We reserve the right to modify this policy at any time. Changes will be posted on this page and will apply to all projects initiated after the posting date.
